I want to plan a trip to disney and I heard so many things I'm stressed out and don't even want to go anymore can someone help me understand everything about disney from park tickets to fast passes????

Tianna, no need to stress, you’ve come to the right place! Here at planDisney, we are real Guests who have mastered the art of planning the perfect Disney vacation, and I’m going to blind you with some Disney science to help get you started!

First things first, let’s talk about Disney Resorts Collection hotels. You have four different hotel categories to choose from to fit your vibe and budget:

    • Deluxe Villas (rooms are slightly larger than Deluxe Resort rooms, have a kitchenette, and are available in 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom villas).
    • Deluxe Resort Hotels.
    • Moderate Resort Hotels.
    • Value Resort Hotels.

My personal favorites are Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa for its proximity to the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Beach Club Resort so I can walk to both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort because of their access to the Disney Skyliner! One example from each category! Picking the right resort is important, especially if you plan on enjoying a relaxing day at the pool.

Once you decide which resort to call home, visit the Special Offers, Deals & Discounts page to see if you qualify for any of the current promotions, or head to Start Planning Your Disney Vacation. Simply input your dates, and number of Guests, then select the resort you decided on.

Next, you will need to choose the number of days you would like to visit the parks and what type of ticket you would like. I suggest a minimum of four days in the parks so you can spend an entire day at each park. The types of tickets available are:

    • Base Ticket – one park per day.
    • Park Hopper Option – same-day admission to all four parks.
    • Water Park and Sports Option – one park per day plus visits to water parks and more.
    • Park Hopper Plus Option – same-day admission to all four parks plus visits to water parks and more.

The final choice will be whether or not you would like the dining plan, and if so, which type. There are currently two dining plan options: the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan and the Disney Dining Plan.

The Disney Quick-Service includes the following per person, per night:

    • 2-Quick Service Meals (no table service meals)
    • 1 Snack/Nonalcoholic Drink
    • 1 Resort-Refillable Drink Mug per person

The Disney Dining Plan includes the following per person, per night:

    • 1 Table-Service Meal
    • 1 Quick-Service Meal
    • 1 Snack/Nonalcoholic Drink
    • 1 Resort-Refillable Drink Mug per person
    • The ability to redeem your meals for special dining experiences, including Character Dining.

Tianna, I know this is a lot to take in, but it isn’t as bad as you think, and it can be a great family activity to research the different resorts and see what attractions you may like! Check out the planDisney Video Library for some great content made by my fellow planDisney panelist friends to help you with your decision-making. Once you have your vacation booked, come back to ask me directly about things like Genie+, Lightning Lanes, and great places to eat and drink while on vacation! Enjoy your research!
