We plan to travel to Disney in May, but we can not pay for our package until a week or two before departure. Is this too late? And do prices steadily creep up?

    Hi, Natasha!

When planning your Walt Disney World vacation, you can book your stay as a "Magic Your Way" package or book a "Room Only" reservation.  So what is the difference?  Well, I am glad you asked!

A Magic Your Way package will include room and tickets, with the option to add on the Disney Dining Plan. A $200 deposit is required, with final payment of your package due 45 days prior to your arrival.

A Room Only reservation is just that - booking just your resort room. A one night's deposit is required, with final payment due when you arrive at Walt Disney World. You can purchase and add on tickets separately. The Disney Dining Plan cannot be added to a Room Only reservation.

With either option, you still qualify for Disney's Magical Express motorcoach transportation from the Orlando International Airport as well as all resort benefits such as transportation around property, complimentary MagicBands, Extra Magic Hours and more.

Since you wish to pay for your vacation closer to your travel dates, the Room Only option is probably better for you. Check the Special Offers to see if there are any deals for your travel dates that might save you some money.  Value Resorts will be the most economical. My personal favorite is Disney's Pop Century. This is such a fun resort, and I love the views of Hourglass Lake from some of the rooms.

Best wishes to you as you plan your magical Walt Disney World vacation!
