Hi there, Jill! What an awesome Grandmom you are, taking your handsome prince on a trip to
Walt Disney World. It's a great opportunity to make some magical memories.
The first thing I want to recommend for you is the use of the
Baby Care Centers. Don't let the name fool you. These facilities - one at each theme park - have unisex bathrooms that are perfect for people in your situation. He can wait just outside or accompany you inside.
Walt Disney World has ample
restroom facilities throughout the theme parks, and in my opinion, I would say a seven year old is still young enough to accompany you in the ladies room. There are also four or five companion restrooms in each theme park. These restrooms, typically thought of as facilities solely for disabled guests, have been a lifesaver for parents and grandparents in a situation such as yours. The facility is large enough for both of you to go in together. For the sake of modesty, you might ask him to just turn around or stand at one side of the room.
When my nephews were younger, I would take them with me into the ladies room if I had them there without my brother. I would have them stand on the opposite side of the stall door with their backs to the door, so I could see their feet. I never had any trouble with either of them wandering - especially if they were promised a ride on a favorite attraction or a Mickey ice cream bar.
Good luck, Jill!
