Hi there, Janelle! Welcome to planDisney. I love how we’re already diving into planning your 2027 visit, and there’s no better time than the
holidays. There’s something magical about the parks when Mickey gingerbread cookies fill the lobby of the Grand Californian with their sweet aroma. I’d love to help you figure out when you can start booking.
I went ahead and checked the current booking calendar. It currently extends through the end of 2026. I spoke with a Cast Member at the front desk of the Disneyland Hotel, and they let me know that reservations open up typically for the following year sometime at the end of the summer for the current year. For a December 2027 trip, that means you’d be looking at booking in early August 2026. Keep in mind that the holidays are a busy time at the parks, so be sure to book as soon as reservations open to secure the room you want at the hotel of your choice.
All of the hotels on property are top notch and will guarantee a great night’s sleep after a day at the parks. This gives you some time to think about which one you want to stay at. For me, it’s always a toss-up between the
Grand Californian and the
Disneyland Hotel. Both are special in their own ways, especially during the holidays. I love the nostalgia of the Disneyland Hotel. The classic nods to Walt Disney in the rooms are sure to make any Disney fan squeal with delight. On the other hand, there is something majestic and awe-inspiring about stepping into the lobby of the Grand Californian, especially with the giant Christmas tree in the center. I can never pass up the cart by the roaring fireplace where the packaged Mickey gingerbread cookies sit, ready to be purchased and gobbled up. Yes, the parks have the cookies too, but I personally love that these are individually packaged with a backing to keep them intact for the trip home. They make perfect gifts for friends and family.
