Hi Elizabeth! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thank you so much for bringing us this great question today.
I know exactly how your son feels. Mickey's Backyard BBQ was one of my must-do's when my family stayed at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. At the moment, Disney hasn't announced plans for a replacement of Mickey's Backyard BBQ, which closed to make way for construction of a new Resort hotel on the property, but I do have some suggestions for other experiences that I hope your son will enjoy.
The fabulous
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, also located at Fort Wilderness in Pioneer Hall, is a hand-clappin', knee-slappin' good time that might remind you of the fun of the Backyard BBQ. The food is all-you-care-to-enjoy served family-style at your table. And Elizabeth, remember these four words: Straw. Berry. Short. Cake!
Another possibility is the
Spirit of Aloha dinner show at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. This one is less down-home and more Hawaiian luau, complete with traditional hula performers and a fire dancer. Yes, a fire dancer! Can you imagine?
If your son misses the dancing aspect of the BBQ, he can jump and shout at the
Disney Junior Dance Party! at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and
Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! at the Magic Kingdom.
Elizabeth, I hope these suggestions help you plan a magical vacation for your little guy. If you have any other questions, please come visit us again soon!
