I plan to register my son for DAS via online chat. He is 5 and has ADHD and ODD. Does he need to be present for the interview? We prefer not to discuss his behavior challenges in front of him.

    Hiya, Donna-Jean!

Welcome to planDisney, friend! As a parent of a child that utilizes this service, I can absolutely relate to this question. The very first time we registered for the Disability Access Service I was so nervous about the response my child would have to the registration process. I am delighted to report that the Cast Members are absolutely wonderful and compassionate. I found the questions to be thoughtful and asked in a way that my child was not uncomfortable during the discussion of how this service would help assist them in the parks. We have since registered for this service on each visit, and every interaction has been nothing but kind and supportive.

Whether you register for the Disability Access Pass in advance online, or in person at your favorite theme park, the individual that the pass is for must be present to complete the registration process. I have a few recommendations to help save some time and make the registration process smooth and efficient for your family.
    • Call early as wait times can sometimes be longer than expected. The phone lines for registration open at 7 AM ET. Pick a day where you can be home or in a location where taking the call will be comfortable for your child.
    • Be sure that you have created your My Disney Experience account and linked your entire travel party before starting your registration. This will make it easy peasy for a Cast Member to link return times for attractions to your whole crew.
    • Online registration can be completed 2-30 days prior to your arrival, so no need to call just yet. Mark your calendar for the 30-day registration window!
    • I recommend spending some time checking out the attractions available with this service. Online videos and photos are a great way to gauge your son's interest before your arrival. During your online registration, you will be able to select two one-hour return windows for experiences during your park visits. Knowing which attractions your son prefers before you call can save you a ton of time!
Donna-Jen, perhaps one of the things I love most about Walt Disney World Resort is their commitment to making sure all Guests have the best trip ever. I truly believe that you and your family will create lifelong memories that you will cherish always during your stay. Should you need additional accommodations during your visit such as dietary preferences, Break Areas for a little quiet time, or planning tips and strategies, be sure to check out the Walt Disney World website before your arrival. There are a variety of planning resources for families and individuals to help maximize your park experience for your entire Ohana.

I hope that your upcoming adventure is memorable and magical!
    We'll see ya real soon!
