Welcome back to planDisney, Tiffany. I'm so happy to answer your question today! As Yoda might say, "Help you, I will!" So let's jump right into your galactic adventure.
Building a lightsaber at
Savi's Workshop is one of those truly unforgettable Disney experiences. And, if you happen to encounter any
First Order operatives while carrying your newly built creation around Batuu, just remember to refer to it as "scrap metal." The experience itself is often surprisingly emotional for longtime
Star Wars fans, and it feels much bigger than simply purchasing a souvenir. You're not just leaving with a lightsaber. You're leaving with a story you'll probably talk about long after your journey to Batuu ends.
Lightsabers built at Savi's typically come with a carrying case and can be easily carried throughout the day. And while there are some exceptions, you can typically bring the lightsaber with you on many of the attractions at
Disney's Hollywood Studios. You may even be able to ask a Cast Member to hold it for you at the loading station for an attraction that doesn't allow it on board. Just note that there may be times when they cannot honor that request.
However, if you don't want to carry it around with you after it's built, I would recommend timing your reservation for later on in the day, when you are likely to be leaving the park to go back to your hotel. This way, you can build it, use it around
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, grab a few pictures, and then bring it with you. Additionally, there have been reports of some Guests being able to pay a fee for Cast Members to hold it for them at Oscar's Super Service (sometimes referred to as a "virtual locker"). Since this option is not guaranteed, I would recommend stopping here on your way into the park to ask if they are currently offering it so you can plan accordingly for the rest of your day. After all, even the
Resistance knows the importance of having a good plan before a mission!
Regarding shipping your piece of scrap metal, you can typically visit
Droid Depot or
Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities to have arrangements made to ship it back to your home planet. And, since these lightsabers are considered toys (shhh! don't tell the lightsaber that), you can either pack them in your suitcase or carry them onto the plane, typically stored in the overhead bin. Thankfully, getting your lightsaber home is usually much less complicated than navigating the Outer Rim!
Tiffany, best wishes with fulfilling all of your S
tar Wars dreams. If you have any other questions,
I'm here for you!
Til the Spire,
Matt
