Hi Kevin,
Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for your question! I'm thrilled you're planning a journey to a galaxy not so far away at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There’s so much to see and do throughout the entire Walt Disney World Resort, one day barely scratches the surface, but if you’ve only got one day to pack in all the adventure, you've come to the right place. While we can’t book anything for you here at planDisney, we’re a group of Guests who’ve spent years learning the ins and outs of Disney vacations, and we’re here to help guide you like your own personal Jedi Council.
When it comes to planning your day in the Most Magical Place on Earth, there are a few key decisions to consider: when to visit, where to stay, what ticket type you’ll need, and whether or not to add a dining plan.
Since you’re focused on a single-day visit, it sounds like you’ve already narrowed down your timing, so let's jump right to where to stay. The
Disney Resorts Collection offers a range of hotel categories, each varying in price based on location, amenities, and transportation options. If you're looking to maximize your time at Galaxy’s Edge, proximity to Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be key. For a value resort that’s big on fun and theming, I recommend Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, where the Skyliner whisks you right to the Studios in style. For a moderate resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside offers a peaceful setting and classic charm with convenient access to the parks. And if you’re leaning deluxe, look no further than Disney’s Beach Club Resort or Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, both within walking distance to Hollywood Studios. Talk about convenience.
As for tickets, Disney offers a few options, but the one-day, one-park base ticket is likely your best fit if your entire mission is centered on Batuu. The Park Hopper option allows entry to multiple parks on the same day, but unless you're planning to bounce between galaxies, it may not be necessary this time around.
Now, let’s talk
dining plans. There are two options: the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan and the Disney Dining Plan. Since your time is limited, I’d recommend skipping the dining plan for this visit. This gives you the flexibility to grab what you want, when you want, whether it’s a quick bite at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo or a refreshing blue or green milk from the Milk Stand.
One other important decision I’d definitely consider is adding
Lightning Lane access. The Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass options are designed to help you spend less time waiting in line and more time experiencing the Force. For a Star Wars fan like you, I’d recommend using the Single Pass to secure a spot on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This attraction is incredibly popular and lives up to the hype. With the Multi Pass, you can reserve other top picks like Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Slinky Dog Dash, and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
I hope this helps point you in the right direction, Kevin. Once you’ve had a chance to weigh your options, I suggest visiting the
Disney Vacation Planning Tool to start piecing together your visit. And don’t forget, staying at a Disney Resort comes with some great perks like complimentary transportation, early theme park entry, and even extended evening hours for deluxe resort Guests.
May the Force, and the fun, be with you.
Brent
