We plan to go to one park a day but would like to take the kids back to the resort for a nap during the day and return in the evening to the same park will we need a park hopper.

Hi Heather! Naps are indeed an important part of a successful family vacation trip.  You do not need a park hopper pass when you are returning to the same park you started with that day.  You can come and go to that park but you cannot change and decide to visit another park that same day.  Many families find this an excellent way to save a little more money and just plan their days and dining for one park on one day.
