Plan to fly in the afternoon before a disney cruise and have a car service drive us to a hotel. Where do you recommend that we stay the night before the cruise? As close to the ship as possible? Is transport avail from any hotels to the ship?

    Hi, Kate!

You have several options of staying the night before a Disney cruise.  You can fly into the Orlando International Airport (MCO), take the complimentary Disney Magical Express (DME) to a Walt Disney World (WDW) Resort and then, take a Disney Cruise Line (DCL) ground transfer to Port Canaveral the next morning.  The DCL transfers are about $70 per person round trip, and your luggage "magically" appears in your stateroom!  After the cruise, the DCL transfer can take you back to a WDW resort or to MCO.

To book a Pre- or Post-Cruise Hotel Package or to reserve a DCL ground transfer, go online to the Planning Center or call (800) 951-3532.

Another choice is to stay at the Hyatt Regency at MCO the night before your cruise.  Simply book a DCL transfer for the next morning, go downstairs to the DME Welcome Center (ground level, side B) and you'll be of the first guests to board a bus for Port Canaveral.  Luggage handling is included with all DCL transfers.

You can also book a hotel which is close to Port Canaveral -- like you suggested.  There are some with free shuttle services to and from the port terminal, but you'll need to reserve your car service for the trip back to MCO or book a one-way DCL ground transfer.  The hotels I know with free shuttle services are the Radisson Resort at the Port and Country Inn & Suites Cape Canaveral.  Others have cruise packages which include transportation but cost a little extra.

So...that about sums it up for you.  Let me know if you have more questions once you start investigating your options.  I'd be happy to help.  Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
