What should I plan for my family after the marathon? Is it unlikely that I will want to walk around the park with my kids; should we plan to head back to the hotel and have a pool day?

    Hi Paul!

You have a great point!  Usually, after a race, I like to schedule a pool, spa, or nap afternoon, and then make a good dining reservation for an evening celebration.  My favorite race-night dinner is at 'Ohana.

You will want to walk around some that day/evening to avoid being too stiff and sore, but parks are pushing it.   A lot of people do go to the parks on race days, but if you are staying longer, then I think you would be smart to make it a more restful day with an early bedtime.  Then, you will be ready to hit the parks on Monday morning.

If the weather doesn't allow for pools, another option would be browsing around Downtown Disney.  There are movie theaters, restaurants, bowling alleys, and a five-story arcade that would entertain your children with minimal walking for you.  Downtown Disney does not require a ticket for admission, so you would not be using a day on your theme park tickets.

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions and good luck with your marathon training!
