Hi, Laverne!
Welcome to planDisney and your
first Disney Cruise Line adventure! You certainly have come to the right place as our team will be happy to help you plan your first cruise every step of the way.
You are off to a great start by choosing Disney Cruise Line and you know your preferred date of travel. In May 2026, you have the
choice of sailings from
Port Canaveral or
Fort Lauderdale when sailing out of Florida. You will have the option to choose from 3-, 4-, 5-, or 7-night cruises.
Start by selecting your travel month, number of guests in your travel party, and then the fun begins! You might want your cruise to include a stop at
Disney's Castaway Cay or
Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. Both offer a day of fun and sun on the beach complete with a BBQ buffet and plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas. Other ports of call may include Nassau, Cozumel, or even Jamaica!
So, what do I suggest? Well, I am glad you asked! I would opt for a 3- or 4-night cruise. With this being your first cruise, this will give you a great taste of a vacation at sea! Your next cruise (and I am pretty sure you will want to sail again!) you may opt for a longer get-away for even more at-sea adventure!
Setting sail from Port Canaveral will be your closest option. Depending on what date and cruise length you choose, you will be sailing on either the
Disney Treasure,
Disney Wish or the
Disney Fantasy. The Treasure is the newest ship, but the Fantasy is still a beautiful ship and probably my favorite in the Disney Fleet. Regardless of which ship you sail on, you will be treated to amazing
rotational dining, world class entertainment, meet and greets with your favorite Disney pals, and that non-stop Disney magic you expect from a Disney Cruise Line vacation.
You may
book your cruise online, or you may call a friendly agent at 800-951-3532 who will be happy to book your cruise for you. When calling, have your travel dates, names of guests in your travel party, and be ready to make a deposit to hold your sailing.
Once you have your cruise booked, I suggest driving in the day prior to your sailing and staying at a local hotel. This way you are not rushing in the morning and worrying about any unexpected traffic delays. Get a good night's sleep and get ready to party with Captain Mickey on your beautiful Disney Cruise Line ship!
Laverne, I know I gave you a lot of information, but hopefully this will get you started. Please feel free to stop back at
planDisney as this amazing team is happy to answer any questions you might have. Good Luck and Bon Voyage!
Cathy
