Hi there, Maria!
Welcome to planDisney! I'm excited that you want to visit
Disneyland Resort during your visit to the United States!
There are a few options for getting to Disneyland from Los Angeles, and it all depends on your preference. Personally, I prefer rideshare services to get around Southern California. They are usually the most cost-effective and easiest to use. You can search for rideshare services online to see which you prefer, and download the app once you arrive in the United States. I actually alternate between two services, depending on which is the most affordable at that time. If you are staying at a hotel in Los Angeles, I bet you can ask bell services for information on rideshare services.
Another option is the Los Angeles Metro, which operates bus and rail services. If you use the train, you will most likely want to take the Metro Rail Green Line headed east towards Norwalk. When you get off the train in Norwalk, find the bus headed to Disneyland (which is typically the Metro Express Line 460 bus). Just double-check the routes before heading out, as this is subject to change.
You could also book a private car service that will drop you off at the Disneyland entrance and pick you up at a certain time. This is probably the most costly option, but it could offer peace of mind. You can search for car services online or ask your bell desk.
As far as your visit to Disneyland, you will want to download the Disneyland app after landing in the United States. I suggest playing around with the app ahead of your park visit, as you can use it to view park maps, see the list of entertainment options, and even plan your meals.
Disneyland Resort includes two theme parks: Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. You will need a Park Hopper Ticket if you want to visit both theme parks. They are just a few steps apart, so it is very easy to visit each of them on the same day. I recommend
purchasing your park tickets ahead of time, if possible, as park reservations are needed and sometimes become unavailable.
If you decide to focus on just one park, then I suggest picking Walt Disney's original theme park, Disneyland Park. It is decked out for Halloween Time through the end of October, with plenty of things to do see and do. The Mickey and Friends Halloween Cavalcade (similar to a short parade) usually takes place each day, and there is a variety of evening entertainment, including the Halloween Screams nighttime spectacular (subject to change). Make sure to check out the
Halloween Time Foodie Guide, as well, to pick out some snacks and treats to try, such as those found at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe (my favorite lunch spot!).
Some of the classic Disneyland attractions offer mellow, fun experiences that appeal to Guests of all ages and interests, such as Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, "it's a Small World," and any of the attractions in Fantasyland. Star Wars fans also need to wander through Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. It is such a unique area! While there, you can order a delicious Ronto Wrap from Ronto Roasters (made with a grilled pork sausage, peppercorn sauce, and slaw all wrapped in a pita) or a Black Caf Slushy from Kat Saka's Kettle. My spouse loves this cold brew slushy that includes chocolate cookie sweet cream and cookie crumbles!
Maria, I know this is a lot of information, but I hope it helps get you started. Feel free to send us another message if you have additional questions! Have a magical time visiting Disneyland!
Magic Happens!
