Ahoy there, Deena! And welcome to planDisney! Sounds like congratulations are in order, and not just because you're getting ready to embark on a
magical Disney Cruise Line vacation! Hopefully your big day was filled with love and excitement that MIGHT come close to what you'll feel on embarkation day...
Just kidding, I'm sure it was a day without equal!
Your question reminds me of when my wife and I got married, and how we planned our cruise around her name change being official! While you're in a slightly different situation, there is one major thing should remember to ensure nothing goes overboard with your planning if you hope to travel this September: y
our cruise line reservation information must match your travel documentation. So, if you are planning on traveling on a current passport in your maiden name, be sure to use that information for your booking! This also applies to any plane tickets you may be purchasing to get to your departure port!
I remember we brought along our marriage certificate and name change affidavit for my wife's name change, so I sailed on over to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to dive into what additional documentation you may need to bring. Sure enough, as of this writing, "U.S. Citizens who change their name due to marriage...may travel using your United States Passport...in your prior name provided you bring proof of your name progression such as a marriage certificate...or court documents showing a legal name change." So, as long as you bring that with you, you should be able to navigate any issues that may arise. Just be sure you have them in your carry-on luggage for easy access during embarkation day!
The same should be sufficient for proving your name change for your vaccination records as well! If any issues arise with this during your
Online Check-In, you'll be able to reach out to Inspire Diagnostics using the contact information provided on the Safe Passage website!
I hope that sets your compass on the right heading, Deena! Congratulations again on your recent nuptials, and thank you so much for your question! If you sail into any other rough seas while you continue planning, drop us another line here at planDisney!
Fair winds, following seas, and happy sailing!
Andrew
