I plan to buy two resort tickets that include park entry for my children. Is it alright if I stay with them in the hotel room overnight for the whole duration of the visit? I do not want to enter the parks, but would like to stay with them in the hotel.

    Hi Friend,

Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for stopping by with your question. Your kids are so lucky that you’re gifting them a park ticket and hotel stay. You’re definitely a magical apprentice in the making!

When I book a stay at any of the Disneyland Resort hotels, my mom often comes along for the fun. She has never gone into the parks with me and my daughter, and instead chooses to enjoy a staycation for herself. She loves to relax in the complimentary hotel robe, sunbathe by the pool, or just take a nap in the plush bed. What a life, huh?!

As long as you're listed as an occupant of the room, and the room can accommodate that number of guests, you should be in the clear.

If you're looking for more entertainment than my mom, I recommend checking out the dining options available at each of the hotels. You can enjoy breakfast at Great Maple, located in the lobby of the Pixar Place Hotel. You can also grab a drink and some tasty bites at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, located at the Disneyland Hotel. If you’re visiting in the fall, be sure to check out the newly renovated Napa Rose at the Grand Californian Hotel. And don’t forget to pop by the gift shops at each hotel; they all carry unique merchandise specific to their theme!

You can also head over to the Downtown Disney District, which has seen some exciting upgrades recently, with even more on the way! Many times, I come back from the parks early and head out to dinner at Jazz Kitchen. After dinner, swing by the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage for nightly entertainment, or do a little shopping at The D-Landers Shop. Be sure to check out the Ultimate Guide to Downtown Disney for even more recommendations.

I hope this helps with your planning! If you have any more questions or need a little extra pixie dust, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of my fellow planDisney panelists. We’re always here to help make your Disney dreams come true!

    Wishing you a wonderful vacation,
