Ahoy, Sarah! It's my pleasure to welcome you to planDisney!
Sarah, I'm so happy to chat with you today, because I have experienced exactly the scenario you are describing. The
onboard-only booking offer is a great way to ensure your next sailing is never too far away without locking into a date before you're ready. When my family and I booked our placeholder cruise onboard, I needed the flexibility but fell in love with Disney Cruise Line and knew we needed to return.
Now, in my experience, we booked our placeholder by visiting the
Guest Services Desk. The Cast Member securing our payment asked if we wanted the future sailing to be assigned to the travel agent on file. If the Cast Member booking your placeholder forgets to ask, make sure to let them know (at the beginning of the process) that you would like to retain your own booking this time. You will then be given your confirmation number, not assigned or associated with any travel agent. However, you are then welcome, when you are back on land, to reach out to the travel agent of your choice and transfer your booking then. You'll just need the confirmation number of your placeholder reservation.
Sarah, after your placeholder cruise reservation is correctly associated, you're ready for the fun part... looking for your next Disney cruise! With so many
itineraries and destinations to choose from, it might take a while, but I know you'll find a sailing that... in the words of Mary Poppins... is "practically perfect in every way."
If you have any additional questions, please come on back to planDisney where my fellow panelists and I are always happy to assist.
