Hi Nicole,
Welcome to planDisney and greetings from a fellow mama of a Mouseketeer with autism. I'm happy to share that thanks to all of the wonderful services for Guests with disabilities as well as a few tricks and trades I've picked up through the years, my kiddo with autism loves our Disney experiences and we're so thrilled to have a vacation destination that's magical for
everyone in our family!
To qualify for the
Disability Access Service, you and your entire party will simply want to visit either City Hall at
Disneyland Park or Chamber of Commerce at
Disney California Adventure Park. You won't need to bring any official documentation with you, rather you'll share your concerns about your son's ability to wait in traditional queues with a Cast Member there and he or she will determine the best way to help your family. If they feel like that will be the Disability Access Service, they'll get it all set up for you there. You may set up your first attraction return time at that point, then you'll be able to use the service one attraction at a time throughout your entire visit. It's a wonderful blessing for those of us with loved ones who simply cannot tolerate traditional queues!
As you're planning your visit, I'd also encourage you to check out some of the super helpful
tips and services provided for Guests with cognitive disabilities. On every trip, I'm always sure to pack some sensory toys, a sensory brush, and some snacks to help my Mouseketeer feel as comfortable as possible. Please don't hesitate to ask a Cast Member for assistance if you would like to locate a quiet place for a break, have a question about lights or sounds in an attraction, or need anything to help your trip run smoothly. They're always happy to help!
I'm so glad you stopped by plan Disney, Nicole, and I'm sending pixie dust for a truly magical vacation this summer!
Missy
