Welcome to planDisney, Shannon! I'm so glad to hear that you're planning on visiting Walt Disney World Resort during my favorite time of year:
the holiday season. There is so much extra pixie dust sprinkled during this festive time of year so it will definitely be a vacation to remember!
During your trip,
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party will be running on December 17, 19, 21, and 22. While
Magic Kingdom Park does close at 6:00 PM on those nights for guests who don't have tickets to the Party, you still have several other nights of your vacation where you'll be able to enjoy fireworks!
Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks are only shown during the Party, but
Happily Ever After will be presented as usual on the other nights.
I have two great tips for you for celebrating the holiday season at Magic Kingdom Park this December. Even though the Theme Park does close at 6:00 PM on Party nights, it's a great idea to consider visiting Magic Kingdom Park on those days because they tend to be a little bit quieter! I will typically spend the day there and then hop over to EPCOT on the monorail to do some snacking at the
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. Secondly, since you'll be at The Most Magical Place On Earth during the week of Christmas, you'll be able to catch
Mickey's Once Upon A Christmastime Parade during the special daytime showings! The parade typically runs twice daily from December 23 through 31, so you'll have an opportunity to catch some special holiday magic without buying tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.
Have a magical day, Shannon!
