Lynn,
Thanks so much for sending a question!
Disney has just launched the new
Disney Genie program at Walt Disney World, and it is going to help you with your park planning, including getting reservations for those sought-after rides! Here is a brief explanation of Disney Genie, and how it can help.
- Disney Genie: The basic Disney Genie is free, and it runs within the My Disney Experience App. It makes dining and attraction recommendations based on your preferences, and even creates a daily itinerary for you. It showcases recommendations with valuable information like wait times, and links to online ordering.
- Disney Genie+: If you pay to add the Disney Genie+ feature, you can use the Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane entrances for a reduced wait time. You can choose the next available boarding time at any of a number of select attractions. With more than 40 attractions across the four parks (at the time of this answer), you get to book that next magical experience, and then enjoy some other activity in the park until your arrival time.
- Individual Lightning Lane: These are typically 1 or 2 of the more popular attractions at each of the given parks where you can pay for an arrival window time. The prices vary, based on demand, and this can help you lock in that "Must Do!" experience that was at the top of your bucket list. You can purchase these, even if you are not using Disney Genie+. If you are staying at a Disney Resort Hotel you can make an Individual Lightning Lane purchase starting at 7 am the day of your visit, while other guests can start ordering when the park opens.
The bottom line is that you can plan out your rides right there when you are in the magic. With Disney Genie, you get a personalized itinerary for your day. With Disney Genie+ you can get advance boarding times at many of the most popular attractions. And with the Individual Lightning Lane entrances you can purchase a reserved time for that iconic attraction that you have been waiting all year to try out! If you are Disney resort guest you can start booking plans as early as 7 am that day, otherwise you just start the magic when the park opens!
I hope that this has helped. Please write me back if you need more information, or if you have other questions!
Have a Magical Vacation!Doug
