The original MagicBand devices, the ones without the interactive features, have actually been phased out and are no longer available for purchase. At this point in time, all new bands being sold are
MagicBand+ devices, which come with additional features like lights, haptic feedback, and interactive elements around the parks.
That being said, if you already own one of the older MagicBands, you are absolutely welcome to keep using it. As long as it is still linked to your account, it will continue to work for many of the core functions like entering the parks, tapping into Lightning Lane entrances, linking PhotoPass photos, and unlocking your
Disney Resorts Collection hotel room door.
The only limitation you might notice with older bands is that some of the newer, more interactive experiences are exclusive to MagicBand+, so the original versions won't participate in those. Additionally, depending on how old your band is, the battery that powers long-range features may not be as reliable anymore, but the basic tap functions should still work just fine.
If you are looking to purchase a new band for your upcoming trip, MagicBand+ is now the standard option you'll find both online and throughout the parks and resorts. I hope this helps!
