are there places at the magic kingdom where kids can take a nap or get some rest. I ask because we are staying at a hotel that is not a Disney hotel, so taking shuttle back and forth isn't ideal.

    Hi Victor,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. For my family, the mid-day nap is absolutely essential on a Walt Disney World park day and we have found some great places to nap over the years.

For a longer nap, my favorite suggestion is to take the monorail to either Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa or Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Your child can sleep in the stroller and you can explore the resort, maybe get a snack, and do some shopping. I like to park the stroller by a window and sit down, relax, and have a drink so I’m well rested too. I know people who actually ride the monorail loop while their child sleeps; the motion of the monorail is soothing and it’s a nice air-conditioned space with beautiful views for Mom or Dad. Another idea is to take the raft over to Tom Sawyer Island and find a shady spot for some quiet time.

If you child only needs a quick rest, consider longer, slower attractions like Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress (a fan-favorite nap spot) or the Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover. If your child doesn’t mind noise, consider riding the Liberty Square Riverboat or Walt Disney World Railroad, where you can enjoy the views while your child snoozes.

Victor, my children both sleep like rocks after a morning in the theme parks, and I’m hoping I’ve given you an option or two that will work based on your child’s sleeping habits. Fingers crossed that your child sleeps like Princess Aurora, and wakes up ready to take on the World.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
