    Places to eat for preteens?

    Hi Dana,

If your preteens are past the stage where dining with characters is cool, I recommend Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Hollywood Studios for a great meal.  This restaurant, located at Hollywood Studios, is fashioned after a 1950s drive-in, and guests sit in convertibles, while watching old sci-fi shorts as they dine.  It's a great experience, and kids tend to love it!  TRex (located at Downtown Disney) and Rainforest Cafe (with two locations at Downtown Disney and Animal Kingdom) are other great choices.  These restaurants are incredibly themed and have huge, diverse menus that make it hard for anyone not to find something they like.  As you can guess, TRex is dinosaur-themed, and Rainforest Cafe is made to look like a tropical rainforest.  Other good options include 50s Prime Time Cafe for a fun, entertaining meal where your server will insist you "finish your super before getting dessert," and Whispering Canyons Cafe, where the servers engage in some pretty hilarious slapstick comedy while you eat.

Finally, many older children enjoy dining in some of the countries at the World Showcase at Epcot.  Germany (Biergarten), Mexico (San Angel Inn) and the United Kingdom (Rose and Crown Pub) are all great choices.

    Have a great trip!
