Hola, Claire! Welcome to
planDisney! As a Mexican and an avid soccer fan myself (or football, if you ask us Latin Americans!), I am incredibly excited to help you out with your question. Let the games begin!
During the 2014 World Cup, the
Walt Disney World Resort hosted a watch party for some of the matches at the Odyssey in EPCOT. In 2018, however, this location wasn't offered as a hangout spot, and the Disney Parks team hasn't said anything about it being available to Guests this year either. Having said that, I do believe that your best bet would be to keep checking back on the
Disney Parks Blog just to make sure that you don't miss any news about this!
Claire, even though it's likely that none of the Theme Parks will offer spots for Guests to watch the World Cup matches later this year, I have quite the long list of places that I love watching games from! Like I said, my family and I are HUGE soccer fanatics, so when you mix that with our love for Disney, it's inevitable for our worlds to collide at some point in time. In fact, I've watched the Mexican League finals, tons of Mexico National Team games, and MANY other matches at the Walt Disney World Resort in the past. You most definitely came to the right person!
If you're spending the day at Magic Kingdom Park, I recommend that you step outside to watch the games at the
Territory Lounge in Disney's Wilderness Lodge or at the
Tambu Lounge in Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. If you're spending the day at EPCOT or Disney's Hollywood Studios, you could always take a break at
Shula's Lounge in the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, or head over to Disney's BoardWalk and show your team spirit at the
Big River Grille & Brewing Works. Finally, if you're at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, I suggest that you walk over to the main entrance and watch the games at the
Rainforest Cafe®.
Since most matches will be taking place around noon or so, I actually think it's the perfect time to take a break from all the walking and the Florida heat! Once the games are over, you're welcome to return to the Theme Parks using your day tickets. It doesn't get much easier than that! I'm actually going to be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort during the semifinal stage, and I plan on taking a break from the parks to go watch the games, too.
Claire, please don't hesitate to reach back out to us with any other questions you might have in English
or in Spanish. We're always available and more than happy to help! Oh... and may the best team win (if you know, you know)!
Warm hugs,
Ana Paula
