Greetings, Cassandra, and welcome to planDisney! My family just stayed at
Pixar Place Hotel a few months ago, so you have a friend in me to help with this question.
All three Disneyland Resort hotels
offer activities that are open to resort hotel guests. The Front Desk will provide you with a printed schedule of events when you check in. The Sketch Pad Cafe inside Pixar Place Hotel hosts a free drawing class on Wednesdays. On certain days, guided walking tours of the Disneyland Hotel and the Grand Californian Hotel are also available. I've also seen complimentary movie nights as well as fitness classes that can be booked for an additional fee. I've always wanted to try the morning "Yoga in the Redwood Creek" class! Keep in mind that some activities require reservations, so check with the Front Desk if anything catches your eye.
Cassandra, since you are considering a stay at Pixar Place Hotel, I'll share some information based on my stay. You may encounter Joe Gardner from "Soul" playing the piano in the lobby or Bing Bong from "Inside Out" greeting guests. The hotel is whimsical and imaginative, with lots of artistry and bold colors. If you are a fan of Pixar movies, you'll appreciate all the small details, such as the Luxo Jr. desktop lamp in the room and the Pixar Ball pillow on the bed. The special entrance for Pixar Place Hotel guests into California Adventure is certainly a perk, too.
The rooftop deck features a pool, splash pad, large waterslide, interactive games, themed firepits, and an open grassy area. My kids spent so much time here. However, I want to make sure you know that,
according to the website, the pool deck will soon be closed for refurbishment, and it is unclear when it will reopen to guests. When I called the hotel's Front Desk to speak with them about it, they confirmed that guests would be able to access the
pools at the Disneyland Hotel during the closure. The pool deck would still be open for fireworks viewing, which was one of my favorite parts of our stay.
Your plans for
cabana rentals (or, rather, where you may rent them) will depend on the status of the pool deck. The Front Desk told me that the price range for a cabana can range from $400 to $600, depending on the rental duration, and that prices may change seasonally. Prices are subject to change, and reservations may be canceled (at no penalty to the guest) due to inclement weather.
Knowing that cabanas may be important to your stay, another option you may want to consider is staying at the
Disneyland Hotel. My kids loved the pool areas here best. There are mini water slides for small children, two larger Monorail-themed water slides, and a Steamboat Willie splash pad. There are three separate pools and a few jacuzzis. The outdoor vibe is tropical, and the hotel overall has an air of nostalgia.
Regardless of which Disneyland Resort Hotel you stay at, you will surely have an incredible time. Aside from there being Disney magic throughout the hotel property and in the rooms, it's also nice being so close to everything and enjoying early entry into the parks. You may arrive just as the
70th Anniversary Celebration kicks off, too, which will be very special.
Sending lots of pixie dust and happiness your way,
Kriss
