Is Pirates of the Caribbean too scary for a 4 year old?

    Ahoy, Pamela!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with a great question! Pirates of the Caribbean has been one of my favorite attractions since I was a young girl!

Although some parts may be a little dark, in my opinion it is not scary at all. Some Guests think that it might be similar to the movies and that they will come face to face with the likes of Captain Hector Barbossa and his undead pirate crew, however you will find that this classic attraction is amazing for Guests of all ages. We have never had any issues with the children in our family and my daughter has been enjoying it since she was very little.

Right at the beginning there is a skeleton at a ship’s wheel and some lightning and thunder followed by a very small drop. I believe this may be the only scary part of the attraction for some Guests, and soon after that you navigate cannon fire between a Caribbean fort and a galleon, and are transported to seaport towns where pirates cause trouble and sing the classic song “Yo Ho, Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me).” Be on the lookout for Captain Jack Sparrow and remember that dead men tell no tales!

Thank you for stopping by, Pamela! I hope this helps you while planning and that you have a magical time at the Walt Disney World Resort.

    Best Disney wishes,
