Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel Michael!
I am a huge Captain Jack Sparrow fan so I was beyond excited when they opened
The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow at Disney's Hollywood Studios. This is an interactive experience where Captain Jack invites Guests young and old to join his crew. But first you must pass tests including a large sea storm, the rage of the kraken and a fierce pirate battle.
It takes place in one room and you stand during the experience. It doesn't involve any live actors although they do an amazing job of making you believe Captain Jack is truly there with you. It involves loud noises and special effects that may frighten some younger children. The lighting is also dark for a lot of it. You could always stay near the exit just in case and leave if either of your boys become frightened.
The Disney Parks Blog did an excellent piece in Nov 2012 about
working with Johnny Depp on the making of The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow.
If your boys are familiar in any way with the Pirates of the Caribbean series or just like pirates in general, they may enjoy this attraction. If not, they may enjoy some other attractions in the park more than this one.
Here's a couple of tips if you decide to give it a try. Many people want to be up front but to me you're able to get more of the full effect a bit further back. You may have to hold your boys up to give them a better view. Also, go earlier in the day for a shorter wait.
Please feel free to visit with any other questions. We're hEAR to help!
Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison
