Is pirates of the Caribbean closed for good?

Hi Kimberly! Welcome to planDisney! It's great to have you stop by!

Let me be the first to say, Captain Jack Sparrow has not gone anywhere! Pirates of the Caribbean is currently open and operating at this time. There are no plans to close the attraction or have it closed for any refurbishments. There may be times throughout each day when the ride is down due to a technical issue, but this typically only lasts for a short period of time.

There has been one iconic attraction at the Magic Kingdom that recently closed. Splash Mountain had its last ride a few months ago and is now being reimagined into Tiana's Bayou Adventure. This transition will take some time, and the new attraction is expected to open in late 2024. If you are a fan of Princess Tiana and the animated film, Princess and the Frog, you are going to absolutely love the new design. The concept art has been incredible to see.

Pirates of the Caribbean has always been one of my favorite rides at Walt Disney World! It's Disney Imagineers at their best. So much so, that a movie franchise was created around this attraction using the remarkable storytelling that takes place. Every time I get a chance to ride, I always try and fixate on different characters. There is so much to take in as you are riding!

Kimberly, I hope you have a magical visit later this year! Stop back and see us anytime at planDisney!

    Happy planning!
