For pirate night on a Disney cruise can I bring in my luggage a foam/ cardboard "sword" as part of or costumes? One that is clearly a prop

    Ahoy Jacqueline –

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am pleased to help you with preparation for Pirate Night on your upcoming Disney Cruise. We get this question here at the Panel quite often, and usually it pertains to toy swords. Unfortunately, any type of sword that is a toy or a prop would be considered to be on the Prohibited Items list on Disney Cruise Line. I discussed this matter with several cast members, and this rule was introduced in order to safeguard guests from toy swords that could actually cause damage (especially because some of the toys are so very realistic). In the shops onboard there are approved toy swords for sale that can be purchased prior to Pirate Night if you would like to have a sword. Jacqueline, thanks for swinging by, and we hope you have a great time planning your cruise!
