How can we get from Pioneer Hall in Fort Wilderness at 8:30pm after Mickey's BBQ to Grand Floridian boat dock by 9:00pm to board a fireworks cruise ?? I understand taxi can only come to the Outpost at Fort Wilderness. How far is that from Pioneer Hall ??

Hi Peggy! Wow, this is a really really tight schedule for you. I stay in Fort Wilderness all the time and know of the limitations on such things as taxis compared to other resorts.

I honestly can say it is not going to be easy or even possible to make this timing work.  My first suggestion is to leave Mickey's Backyard Barbecue early. You will be eating first and then entertainment will follow so you can still enjoy much of this special event and still leave early. I would leave around 8pm but not later.  It is a short walk to the Fort Wilderness marina where I would hop on the first boat that comes. The boats on the left will take you to the Magic Kingdom while the boats on the right take you to Wilderness Lodge or Contemporary resorts. Catch the first boat and if it is the resort boat get off and catch a cab at that particular location. If you are at the Contemporary then you have the option to hop on the monorail over to the Grand Floridian. If you end up at the Magic Kingdom simply head to the resort monorail which is near where you arrive and take that to the Grand Floridian.

Once you arrive at the resort you will still need to take a long walk down to the marina. They usually wish you to arrive for the fireworks cruises 15-30 minutes early to take care of the payment etc.

Have you considered getting a boat from Fort Wilderness for the fireworks cruise that night? You can see if there is one available from this location which would make your evening so much less stressful.  It is the same kind of pontoon boats and they offer exactly the same thing. Your driver will tour you around the Seven Seas Lagoon as well as Bay Lake and all boats sit in the water in front of the Magic Kingdom to watch the show. Check and see if they can transfer your reservation to this location as you will be so much happier then trying to make this nearly impossible connection!
