How does the pin trading work? My family is going for the first time in June and this sounds like something my kids (3,8,10) would love!!! Also where do we find lanyards and pins to start the trading?

    Hi Amber!

It is a real pleasure to answer your questions, especially if it is about pin trading! Pin trading is easy. When you visit Walt Disney World (Parks, Resorts and Downtown Disney), you will find that the majority of the stores carry a selection of lanyards, lanyard metals and pins. (I personally love to purchase pins under the Sorcerer's Hat at Disney's Hollywood Studios and at the Disney Pin Traders Store in Downtown Disney because of the large selection.) You can also buy them online at DisneyStore.com.  They way it works is that you locate a Cast Member wearing a lanyard with Disney pins and find a pin you'd like. Then present one of your Disney pins to the Cast Member in trade. Here is some more information on "How to Pin Trade".

Pin trading is a special and fun activity for my family, especially if we are hunting for a certain type of pin. Your family will love the experience of "hunting" for pins!  These pins have a small backing which can be choking hazards so you may want to wait to introduce the little one to pin trading. You can start his/her collection of pins and even trade for them. This is what I do for my 3 year old daughter. I bought her the lanyard and pins she wanted and I trade them for her, but I do not let her handle them.

Here's are some special tips: When you get to the parks, go to the stroller rental location and ask if you can see the pin trading stroller, it is amazing! If you visit guest services at the parks or the checkout counter at any of the resort stores, you can ask for the pin trading book! Also, if you visit Disney's Animal Kingdom, stop by the Outpost Shop near the entrance. They have a pin trading vest!

Hope this helps! Again, thank you for submitting your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
