I have a pin trade from us and it says when searched gifted or traded only and not to be able to buy can you shed light as to what this means maybe ?

    Hello Morgan,

Welcome to planDisney!  I absolutely love that you've taken the time to bring us such an interesting question today concerning Disney Pin Trading at Walt Disney World Resort.

Over the years since Disney Pin Trading was first introduced at Walt Disney World Resort on January 1st, 2000, I've always looked out for unique, and unusual pins to add to my personal collection.  As a bit of a magpie who likes shiny, sparkly things, I actually prefer not to trade my pins, but rather build on my bibbidi-bobbidi-beautiful collection of souvenirs.

On your behalf Morgan, I've undertaken some extensive online research concerning your "gifted, or traded only, and not to be able to buy" Disney Pin Trading pins which you gained from a pin trade made in the U.S.A.

To the best of my knowledge, the Disney Pin Trading pins to which this might refer could be Disney pins that can only be gifted to recipients and have not been available for general sale in select merchandise locations at Walt Disney World Resort.

For instance, such pins might be from the Year of a Million Dreams series which were gifted to select Guests for a limited time from October 2006, or perhaps Cast Member only pins that are awarded to Cast Members to celebrate specific milestones or special occasions.

Did you know that some pins are really rare as they are released as pre-production pins, or some pins even slipped the net and were mistakenly released with errors!  You might be interested to read more about these unique pins in this past Disney Parks Blog article.

I hope that I've been able to shed a little light on your enquiry today Morgan.  If however, you did have any further questions concerning your Disney Pin Trading pins, then it's always possible to email Cast Members in Guest Services who will be happy to offer some additional assistance.

And my last suggestion for you would be to take along your Disney Pin Trading pins for Cast Members to see in person when you're next on holiday at Walt Disney World Resort.  One of the very best spots for information would be found at Disney's Pin Traders at Disney Springs.

Have a great Disney day ~ Jane
