Can I take some pictures for my daughter in her Quinceañera’s dress? It doesn’t drag the floor and hope it’s allowed. My son will take the photos. Just some pictures at the beginning of the day and then she will change to a more comfortable outfit.

Hello, Ana. Welcome to planDisney. What better way to celebrate an important event than visiting a magical place - Disneyland! Let’s look at what the guidelines on the Disneyland website say about attire and weigh your options.

First of all, cast members interpret the guidelines stated on the Disneyland website and are the final word. It’s really difficult to give a straight answer to your question without knowing what the dress looks like - more on that later. While taking photos in her Quinceañera dress would be magical, getting in trouble with park security would not.

The rules concerning attire state that “…Clothing that drags on the ground is prohibited in theme parks.” If the dress is even close to the ground, they may consider it a tripping hazard and not allow it. What the dress looks like is really important, too. If a guest arrives in a dress that even remotely resembles a dress that a princess might wear, there is a possibility that the guest may be mistaken for a character. Park rules state that “Engaging with other Guests or impeding operations while posing as or portraying any character in costume” is strictly prohibited. I know you would not intend for that to happen, but it could lead to a misunderstanding.

Again, since I don’t know what the dress looks like, I can’t say if it will be a cause of concern for the cast members. I’ve seen very big and extravagant gowns that would attract a lot of attention, and I’ve seen simple, elegant gowns that may not be noticed. The good news is that you’ve already planned a wardrobe change, so if a cast member raises a concern, you could quickly change.

Did you know that you could actually celebrate your daughter’s Quinceañera with Disney? Check out the Disneyland website for information on hosting your Quinceañera in one of the ballrooms at the Disneyland Resort.

Ana, I hope your daughter’s Quinceañera and your visit to Disneyland are as magical as can be. If you have any other planning questions, come right back to planDisney and ask away!

I hope you have a magical day!
