I have a VERY picky 14 year old but we want to go to Blue Bayou at Disneyland over Christmas. I know he won't eat off the adult menu, is ordering off the kids menu or even just buttered pasta an option?

    Hi Matthew! Welcome to planDisney!

You are in good company, friend. I completely understand trying to map out a Disneyland Resort vacation with a picky eater in tow! My son is dedicated to chicken fingers and fries and extra ketchup, and I am constantly ensuring that that is an option so that we can all relax and enjoy our meal!

Christmas at Blue Bayou Restaurant sounds extra magical! This is my favorite spot throughout the entire resort. I just love the eternal twilight and sparkling skies above, and, of course, watching your fellow Guests sail by on their Pirates of the Caribbean adventure! If you listen closely, you can even hear crickets and other sounds of the bayou. Disney storytelling at its best! While technically items on the kids' menu are for Guests that are 9 and younger and it may be up to the discretion of your server on the day, I know that the Cast Members work extra hard to ensure that everyone has a magical experience. Taking a look at the current menu, I do see that there is a "Kids Create-Your-Own Entrée" option which includes a pasta selection, so my guess is that buttered noodles are at least possible! My best advice would be to speak to the host or your server when you arrive to ensure that your child's tastes can be accommodated before sitting down for your meal. I'm sending a little pixie dust your way that this special meal in the Bayou is everything you hope for and more!

Once you've emerged from the bayou, you might want to take a little time to explore New Orleans Square, which is getting a bit of a refresh! The recently opened Eudora's Chic Boutique Featuring Tiana's Gourmet Secrets is the latest hot spot. You'll find themed home goods, apparel, and accessories with a touch of The Princess and the Frog. From what I can tell, this special boutique is a must-visit on your next trip! While you're browsing, you might want to Mobile Order my personal favorite - Mickey beignets from the Mint Julep Bar just around the corner. Even if you're feeling filled to the brim from Blue Bayou, there's always a little more room for dessert, right? These will come out piping hot. Be sure to give the bag a little shake to make sure each gets its fair share of that powdered sugar!

Matthew, holiday magic is at your fingertips! I know you are in for a trip filled with some forever memory-making. If you have any more questions, you know where to find us here at planDisney

    Be merry!
