At 7:00am can you pick the time for your first genie+ reservation? The picks for the rest of the day are based on what is next available vs a specific time correct?

Hey there, Joyce, and welcome to planDisney! The new Disney Genie is something we all are learning every day. Even though we haven’t fully figured it out yet, I still think that adding Genie+ is the best way to take your Disney Vacation to the next level! In my experience, it’s definitely been necessary when navigating a day in Magic Kingdom Park or Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Joyce, you are correct. Walt Disney World Guests can make their first Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation at 7:00 a.m. on the morning of their Theme Park day. However, you may only select the displayed best available time for your reservation. Guests are not able to choose a specific time window to experience the attraction. You can then make an additional Genie+ reservation after you tap into your first reservation or after waiting 120 minutes, whichever happens first. You can hold more than one Genie+ reservation at a time, but you must make the reservations one at a time by using the timing method outlined in the previous sentence. Again, you are only able to select the best available time for all of your Genie+ reservations.

My personal strategy for Disney’s Genie+ Service is to avoid waiting the 120 minutes between reservations when possible. So, I look for attractions that my family enjoys and that have the soonest available return window. For example, if it’s our Hollywood Studios day and I see that Toy Story Mania! has an 8:15 a.m. return window, I will book this reservation. To me, this is the best option because it allows me to tap into the attraction at 8:15 a.m. and start looking for my next attraction, without waiting until 9 a.m. - the 120-minute window. I also get to use the time in the attraction queue to book my next Genie+ reservation.

I hope this helps, Joyce! If you have more questions while planning your Disney Vacation, come back by and ask me. After all, the planDisney panel is here to help!

    Until Next Time,
