“Is the pick a Pearl reopen in the Japan Pavilion at Epcot?” I see in September 2022 it still wasn't open. It is now open?

    Hi Gina,

Thank you for stopping by planDisney with your vacation planning question.  I see you will be visiting very soon and I bet you are so excited to be making your final preparations before your Magical vacation!

Although there has not been an official announcement about the reopening of Akoya Pearls located in the Mitsukoshi store in the Japan Pavilion at EPCOT, I can tell you that recently Guests have been able to resume this experience.  I can still remember the first time each of my children picked their own oyster and counted down with the Cast Member to reveal their special pearl.  We have collected many pearls throughout the years and we have such fond memories of this experience.  The Mitsukoshi store is also a wonderful place to shop for Guests of all ages.  Whenever my family stops there, you can be sure we all come out with unique souvenirs and snacks.  My oldest daughter still wears an incredibly comfortable cardigan that we bought there over 10 years ago!

Since there hasn't been an official announcement, I do not know for sure if the shop will be open during your visit in a couple of weeks.  However, I always recommend keeping an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for the latest information and for your own daily dose of Pixie Dust.  Gina, did you know that there is another location at the Walt Disney World Resort that you are able to harvest your own oyster?  Over at Disney Springs there is the Pearl Factory Kiosk that offers a similar experience in which you also pick an oyster and reveal its pearl.

Have a Magical vacation!  Please come back and visit us here again at planDisney with all of your vacation planning questions.

    See Ya Real Soon,
