Hi Andrea!
Thanks for making planDisney part of your Walt Disney World Resort vacation-planning team. Disney Genie+ service and Memory Maker are two of my favorite ways to maximize the magic on my family's Disney vacations but for very different reasons. Let's take Mama Odie's advice and
dig a little deeper into each service so you can find out what you need.
Disney Genie+ service saves precious time on park days by giving Guests access to Lightning Lane entrances at over 40 attractions throughout the theme parks. You can purchase Disney Genie+ service anytime after midnight each park day via the Tip Board of your
My Disney Experience mobile app (three small lines at the bottom right of the app's homepage > Tip Board). I recommend purchasing by 6:45 a.m. so you can book your first Genie+ Lightning Lane attraction at 7:00 a.m. sharp.
In addition to Genie+ Lighting Lane reservations, Disney Genie+ service unlocks the
Disney PhotoPass Lenses in your My Disney Experience mobile app (three small lines > Disney PhotoPass Lenses). These augmented reality shots are magical, but they are not the same as Magic Shots captured throughout the parks by Disney PhotoPass photographers. My tween daughter loves using the Disney PhotoPass Lenses to take selfies with Mickey and enjoy virtual snacks while we're waiting in line for attractions. I encourage you to peruse the lens options in the My Disney Experience mobile app before your visit - they're really cool, and with a Genie+ purchase they remain unlocked for 45 days!
But that's not all, Andrea! A Disney Genie+ service purchase also includes digital downloads of select Disney PhotoPass attraction photos taken on the day of your purchase. In EPCOT, for example, this includes attraction photos from Frozen Ever After, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and Test Track. Your pictures will
link to your Disney account as long as you have a newer MagicBand, MagicBand+, or mobile device with Bluetooth enabled for the My Disney Experience mobile app (three lines > Photos).
Switching topics, a
Memory Maker purchase gives you unlimited downloads of all Disney PhotoPass media captured by you and up to 25 members of your Family & Friends list over a 30-day period. This includes all attraction photos and all images captured by Disney PhotoPass photographers, including over 75 Magic Shots. A few of my favorite Magic Shots over the years include an image of my daughter holding Tinkerbell in her hand on Main Street, U.S.A., in Magic Kingdom Park and a picture of my husband
almost getting carried away by a bunch of Mickey balloons in Disney's Hollywood Studios.
If spending less time queueing and more time doing is important to you, Andrea, you should purchase Disney Genie+ service for at least your Magic Kingdom Park day. If preserving memories of your family in front of theme park icons, with characters, and in Magic Shots is important to you, you should purchase Memory Maker. My final tip is to purchase Memory Maker (Advance Purchase) online at least three days in advance for a lower price.
I hope this information leads to
blue skies and suuuuunshiiiine on your park days, Andrea. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me
directly with any follow-up questions.
Choose magic,
Jennifer
