Ahoy there, McKenna!
Welcome aboard planDisney! Cruising with four staterooms full of family is no small thing. That is a whole lot of memories waiting to happen, from deck parties to dinner selfies. I totally understand wanting to have a plan so everyone gets to take those memories home.
You’ve done some great research and absolutely nailed the heart of your question. If one stateroom purchases the
Unlimited Digital Photo Package, the remaining staterooms can go to Shutters onboard and purchase it for 50% off (subject to change). However, as Genie would say, “There are a few, uh, provisos, a couple of quid pro quos,” that are important to keep in mind.
First, the 50% discount is taken off the onboard price, not the lower pre-cruise price you may see available in your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app before you sail. So while it is still a solid savings, it is not half of the advance purchase rate.
Second, the discount applies to family members. It does not extend to friends sailing in
separate staterooms. So if three of your four rooms are family and the fourth is friends, that fourth stateroom would need to purchase at the current price and may want to consider pre-purchasing ahead of time if a discount is being offered.
One more thing to think about with a larger group. Many of the photo backdrops set up around the ship may be limited to a maximum of eight Guests for spacing and safety reasons. With four staterooms, you could easily exceed that. If you are hoping for a full group photo, look for opportunities like the Atrium or Grand Hall staircase, depending on your ship. Those locations tend to work well for larger family shots. You can also mix it up with smaller combinations so you get big group photos and individual family pictures too.
I hope this helps as you plan to capture every magical moment. With a little coordination and that photo package strategy in place, your crew will be set to bring home a gallery full of smiles.
Sea ya real soon with a little extra warmth, wonder, and Disney magic,
Dustin
