Photo Excursions are a fantastic
Disney PhotoPass experience that has periodically been available at the parks over the past couple of years. My family did a
few of these excursions together and got such great photo downloads from them, which were complimentary with our
Lightning Lane Passes. Excursions typically lasted about 10 minutes and took Guests into a selection of locations for a private photo shoot with a talented Disney PhotoPass photographer. Some shots they arranged were silly, some were romantic, and they were all well worth our time. The sessions have been complimentary and required no reservation, which was super convenient.
Since being introduced, Photo Excursions have come and gone, often being brought back during popular times of the year, such as spring break season. Unfortunately, as of about a week ago, there were no excursions being offered. That doesn't mean they're necessarily gone forever! You can ask around when you visit, especially when you spot a photographer, to see if they're back on. In my experience, they love the program and love to hear that Guests enjoy it too! While I don't have access to Madame Leota's crystal ball, hopefully the experience will return soon. Fingers crossed it will be back by the time you visit in July!
You can find Disney PhotoPass photographers using the
Disneyland mobile app. While the default selection at the top of the map is Attractions, you can switch to find other things you need during your exploration of the parks, including Dining, Entertainment, and those talented photographers. It might not be the spot you've been dreaming of, but there are other great locations for a truly magical memory to be made.
I also find that Guests are happy to snap a quick picture for you in the Happiest Place on Earth. I wouldn't be shy about looking for a nice family and asking them if they wouldn't mind helping you out for a second in front of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Fantasyland. A teen offered to take a group shot for my friends and me in Cars Land a few years ago, and it is one of my favorites from that holiday season.
