Ahoy Barb,
Thank you so much for coming to planDisney with your
Disney Cruise Line question. I am happy to help you with preparing for your magical sailing!
Like you, I always want to leave an emergency number with my family onshore when I head out on a Disney cruise. It gives me a lot of peace of mind to know that in an emergency, they could contact me. The phone number for shore to ship calls is 1-888-322-8732. This line can also be reached using 732-335-3281. The people calling would need to know the ship on which you are sailing and your stateroom number. These calls are time-limited, and there is a fee per minute for the calls.
While I truly do like to disconnect while I am on a Disney Cruise Line sailing, I know that sometimes someone from home might need to get in touch with me. I leave the phone numbers above for serious emergencies. I have also started purchasing a small
Connect@Sea package when I am onboard. There are different levels of packages that you can purchase. I purchase the smallest one and use it to check my e-mail once per day. This way, if there is something important but not emergency level, my family can let me know. I only log on to my Connect@Sea during the time I am scanning my e-mail. Then I immediately log out and focus back on what is likely my book, my beverage, the pool, and the sun!
Finally, in terms of communicating with members of my family traveling with me on my cruise, I use the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. It has a function that will allow you to connect with and message other guests onboard. You do not need to purchase Connect@Sea to do this; it is available for guests and complimentary. We travel with a teenager who loves to explore the ship and have her own fun, so having the ability to quickly message each other is helpful. There are also tons of Disney-themed emojis available which make me very happy!
I hope that this information is helpful for you, Barb. Please feel free to sail back to planDisney with any further questions!
