Why hello there Amanda, and welcome to planDisney!
There's really nothing like the perfect proposal moment with
the burst of fireworks up in the sky as you hear the swell of heartfelt Disney music and the cheers of onlookers; as someone who had both an epic surprise Disney engagement as well as a recent
Disney Wedding myself that culminated with a Dessert Party, I am thrilled to provide a few pointers and personal experiences to help you capture this very special moment on Valentine's Day! Now to best answer your question, it's important to note that the term "Dessert Party" actually refers to a number of different things here at Walt Disney World Resort so the answer depends on which kind you'll be attending:
- For Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties: Seats & Sweets to view Happily Ever After, there are unfortunately no designated photographers available at Tomorrowland Terrace for this event according to the Cast Members at Magic Kingdom Park Guest Relations. If however, you're planning on booking either the Pre-Party or Post-Party offerings, they let me know that there is typically a Disney PhotoPass photographer located within the designated Plaza Garden viewing area. I highly recommend taking the opportunity like I did to speak with the Cast Members who are working at the events in these locations for their tips on how to ask for help in orchestrating a way for the proposal to be captured at the right moment! The Cast Members also let me know that unfortunately there is no number that you can currently call to book a Disney photographer specifically for a dessert party proposal and paying your own private photographer to enter Magic Kingdom Park to do so is unfortunately prohibited.
- On the other hand, Dessert Parties that are a part of events run by Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings team can and often do have private photographers there to capture special fireworks moments for couples - whether it's through Disney Fine Art Photography or through specially approved third-party vendors who must sign an agreement in order to be approved to take photographs for the couples that hire them at the Walt Disney World theme parks and resort hotels.
Another option to look at is a
Capture Your Moment session which is available during the day within Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. At the present time the last bookable sessions each day take place well before any evening fireworks but this is currently the way that most guests are able to book a Disney PhotoPass photographer to shoot an engagement within the theme parks!
I hoped that this helped, Amanda -
