Are pets permitted inside the Cabins at Fort Wilderness or just @ campsites? I am allegric to dogs, cats and cigarette smoke.Would there be leftover pet smells or pet hair in Cabins?Should we pass on the Cabins and stay at a Family All Star suite instead?

Pets are not allowed in the cabins at Fort Wilderness.  Only certain campsites allow families to bring their pets with them and they must stay in designated areas at all times.

We just returned from a vacation in the cabins and did see a stray cat in the area but it never came close to us.  We enjoyed staying at Fort Wilderness for the first time as it is a completely different experience then a resort.  There are many things you can do here such as fishing, horseback riding, canoeing, and evening singalongs with a campfire!  It is a great place to be if you are looking for a quiet atmosphere.....I was amazed at the quiet and peacefulness it offered.

The one bedroom is small and there is only one closet and one small chest of drawers.  The double bed and bunk beds are in this bedroom.  The single bathroom is good sized with a little bit of storage.  The kitchen/family area is nice with a table for dining, sofa, small chairs and table for kids, and a couple of storage cabinets.  The "murphy" bed pulls down from the wall in this area so if you have someone who wants to go to bed early and they are sleeping here it will make a difference.  There are TV's in both the living area and the bedroom.

It is a completely different experience staying at the cabins. I wish they had a bit more storage space as I am not one who wanted to live out of the suitcase for ten days.  I loved the quiet and we loved having the golf cart to zip around the campgrounds with.  The Family All Star suite is very nice and typical or resort rooms.
