Hiya, Michelle! Welcome to planDisney!
Some dining reservations at
Walt Disney World Resort are highly in demand, and wanting to keep a certain reservation that you really have your heart set on is definitely something I can relate to.
It’s worth noting that
dining reservations are not automatically cancelled if a Guest cancels their vacation. One important thing to keep in mind, however, is that even though this Guest will no longer be part of the trip, the reservation remains linked to their name and payment information.
In this situation, the best next step is for one of the Guests who will be travelling to secure a new dining reservation under their own name. And if availability isn’t showing right now, don’t worry! You still have options.
When the original Guest cancels the original reservation, you may have the opportunity to secure it as a new reservation. If you are able to coordinate the cancellation while someone in your party is ready to book, you could find success using this strategy. This is not a guarantee, but it is certainly possible.
Alternatively, dining reservations often open up as plans change, especially as your travel dates get closer. I have found great success in securing last-minute dining reservations using this approach. With a little faith, trust, and Pixie Dust, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to snag a new reservation that works perfectly for your group!
I hope this answers your question, Michelle. If you have any other questions as you continue to plan your magical vacation, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us here at
