If I have a person with Autism and have the special accommodations do I need to get the genie+ too?

    Hello there, Michelle!

Welcome to planDisney and we're happy to see you here with your question! I hope that you're having fun anticipating and planning for your summertime Disneyland Resort trip! It's only a few short months away, so let's get to helping you out.

When you mention special accommodations, are you talking about Disney's Disability Access Service (DAS)? If you are, then that's very different from Genie+. Both are services aimed to allow Guests to avoid the traditional standby queue. DAS is designed for Guests who are unable to wait in a standard queue setting by reserving an attraction through the Disneyland Mobile App and receiving a return time that is concomitant with the current attraction wait time. In the meantime, you are able to enjoy the Park's other amenities. When your Return Time arrives, you may check in with the Cast Member to be taken right to the ride. You must register for DAS either via video chat with a Cast Member before your visit or on the day of your visit at Guest Relations. You may have up to 6 members (the DAS registrant plus 5 other Guests) in your DAS party.

On the other hand, Genie+ is a paid service that allows Guests to book a Lightning Lane return time in the App for select attractions. Lightning Lanes bypass most of the standby queue and get you to the front of the line faster. Every Guest who would like to utilize the Lightning Lane must purchase Genie+, including the DAS registrant. It is possible for a Guest to be registered for DAS and have Genie+ at the same time.

If there are any Pixar fans in your traveling party, Pixar Fest will be going on during your visit! I'm personally very excited for Inside Out 2 to be releasing in theaters this summer. In fact, you might be able to watch the premiere over your vacation, depending on how long your visit is!

Michelle, I hope that this was able to clear some things up for you. I wish you a truly magical trip to the Happiest Place on Earth and please let us know if you need anything else from planDisney. We'd be happy to continue being involved with your planning. Until next time!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
