Hi there Sean, it's great to have you here at planDisney!
I totally agree - the shows that take place on
Spaceship Earth are definitely underrated! Every time that we visit in the evening to see it all aglow with the sound of the musical score swelling all around the EPCOT entranceway, I find myself just standing there transfixed at how beautiful these shows are - thanks to the incredible work of
Walt Disney Imagineers who brought these Points of Light to life.
At the current time there isn't any published schedule available for guests, and the Cast Members at
EPCOT could only say that Points of Light on Spaceship Earth typically begin "at dusk" or "after sundown" - which are both subject to change depending on the days as they grow shorter in the fall. While there's currently no telling what October will bring, here's a look back at my experience last year so that you have an idea of what you might expect if it remains consistent:
- This was followed about ten minutes later with the sounds of "You're Welcome" from Moana, and it was great to hear so many other guests singing along with Maui as symbols depicting his stories came to life on Spaceship Earth.
- After a similar amount of time the next one featured "When You Wish Upon a Star" and sparkly star imagery and it all seemed to be very classically Disney, including a lot of Mickey-shaped moments as well as the second star to the right.
- There's typically a new sequence added during any of the festivals that take place throughout the year, and currently you'll hear Lumiere singing "Be Our Guest" in honor of the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival.
Each of these sequences were no more than about two to three minutes in length, and continued onward into the evening; I personally enjoy grabbing a snack from
Connections Eatery and finding a great spot nearby just to enjoy the atmospheric ambience in-between with the occasional whoosh of the
EPCOT monorail passing overhead.
I hope that this helped you gain an idea of what you can generally expect before you go, Marci! As you plan ahead for your visit this October, I think you'll be interested in watching
EPCOT Becoming: Inside the Transformation, a documentary created by National Geographic to learn more about all of the incredible Imagineering that went into making those EPCOT evenings so dazzling and full of light!
Here's to all of those beautiful points of light illuminating the night!
