What about people with type 1 Diabetes. is there anything special that the parks accommodate for them

Thank you so much for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with such a great question, Jeffrey.

The Walt Disney World Resort is determined to ensure that all guests have the best experience possible during their vacation. This includes everyone, even those with a medical condition that may prevent them from having a 100% pleasant experience.

There are several accommodations in place that you can take advantage of. Certainly, the most comprehensive one is the Disability Access Service (DAS), which allows Guests with disabilities—as well as the people in their party—to schedule a return time at a specific attraction that is similar to the wait time when they first arrive at that attraction. As soon as the party finishes one attraction, they are eligible to receive a return time for another one. The best thing is that this service can be used in addition to the FastPass+ service. When exercise from all the walking combined with heat (especially during summer time) cause a disruption in sugar levels, this service is perfect, as it would allow to wait in a much cooler and calmer area.

How does one obtain a DAS? The guest must appear in person at Guest Relations (located near the entrance of each theme park), ideally at the first park they visit, in order to discuss their unique situation. Then, the DAS card will be issued and handed to the guest.

If you need more detailed information regarding this service, please call (407) 560-2547, or send an email to Disability.services@disneyparks.com

I wish you and your family a memorable vacation! Please come back with more questions if you need to.

Meet the Panelist: Desiree, Peru

Hi! I'm Desiree from Lima, Peru. My family will never ever tire of visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth, even if means traveling almost 3,000 miles to do so! My husband and I love to watch the fireworks with our kids, but the best magic happens when the grandparents come along and we all feel the same age in front of Cinderella Castle! I love giving tips about different types of resorts and traveling with multigenerational groups.
