We have 9 people traveling in our group. 3 are young children and have no interest in Rise of Resistance. If they do not want to join a boarding group do they have to be there early too? Do all 9 members of our group have to check in at the same time?

Bright suns, Laura!  Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel on your way to the planet Batuu.

The Force is strong with my family, so we are beyond excited to visit Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance during our upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation!  Currently, guests wishing to access this new one-of-kind attraction must use their My Disney Experience mobile app to join a boarding group.  Boarding groups have been filling quickly each day, so I recommend that you arrive at Disney's Hollywood Studios at least 30 minutes before the posted park opening time.

To join a boarding group, all guests in your party who want to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance must be inside Disney's Hollywood Studios.  At park opening time, when the boarding groups become available, one person from your group will use their app to request a boarding group for all of the members of the party who wish to ride.  If there is an adult in your group who will not be experiencing the attraction, they could certainly stay behind with the children, but anyone wishing to join the boarding group must be inside the theme park.

If all of the adults in your party join a boarding group and plan to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, please speak to a Cast Member at the attraction entrance once your boarding group is called.  At that time, you may inquire about the Rider Switch Service which will permit an adult to supervise your non-riding children while the rest of the group experiences the attraction.  The waiting adult will then be allowed to bring up to two guests along and skip the standby queue to access the attraction.

Procedures for experiencing Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance are subject to change at any time, so please keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for all of the latest news and announcements regarding this epic new attraction.

In addition to igniting the spark of the Resistance, there is so much more to see and do when you travel to the planet Batuu.  Be sure to take a look at these Disney Parks Moms Panel tips for making the most of your Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge visit, and while you're at it, check out the adventure a few of my fellow panelists recently had at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
