Jeff from SC Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

We have 40+ people & will reserve parks in smaller groups. Can we swap people from group to group without losing our reservations? We want to reserve the parks, but might change the groupings of people when we get to reserving rides later on. Thank you

Hi Jeff! Welcome to planDisney. I'm so happy you brought your great question to us today!

The Walt Disney World Resort is such a great vacation destination for large groups. There is so much to do and see at the resort that everyone will be able to find something they enjoy! And since everyone has different interests, splitting up the group at times is a wonderful option to explore throughout your visit. And don't worry, it'll be very easy to do that with all of the planning tools available to you!

Firstly, you'll want to make sure that everyone 13 or older has their own My Disney Experience account and has downloaded the My Disney Experience mobile app onto their phones (younger Guests and anyone without a smartphone will be managed by adults in your party). This will be planning central for everyone! Secondly, you'll want to ensure that everyone is connected through the My Family & Friends page in My Disney Experience. To do this, click the "Add a Guest" option on this page and follow the prompts. The other members of your travel party will then need to accept your invitation. Once accepted, if you want everyone to be able to see all of the plans being made, next to their name, select "Update," and select "All My Plans." If you select "Only Our Shared Plans," they will only be able to see the reservations to which they are attached. This can be changed at any time.

Once everyone has their theme park tickets, they can begin to make Theme Park Reservations, which at this time are required for all Guests visiting the parks until January 9, 2024. You can make Theme Park Reservations in any configuration you'd like as not everyone in the group has to visit the same parks on the same days. Furthermore, if you are making Lightning Lane reservations with the Disney Genie+ Service or trying your hand at getting a Boarding Group through the Virtual Queue system, you will be asked to select the eligible Guests to join you. Please keep in mind that these types of reservations are usually limited to 10 people so you will have to make separate reservations for these types of experiences if more than that want to join. Regardless, to answer your original question, these types of reservations won't change your Theme Park Reservation.

As you can see, there is a lot of flexibility when experiencing the resort and you can tailor each Guest's experiences based on their personal preferences. Do you have both high-speed thrill seekers and those that prefer a more low-key thrill in your group? If the Disney Genie+ Service has been purchased when you're visiting Magic Kingdom Park, some can make a Lightning Lane reservation for Space Mountain while others reserve Peter Pan's Flight. In fact, there may be some members of your party who don't ride many attractions and therefore don't feel the need to add on Disney Genie+. If that's the case, some can buy it and some may choose not to! That's all possible!

Jeff, I have a feeling your group is going to absolutely love their visit to the resort. If you have any other questions leading up to your vacation, I'd be happy to answer them!

I got the wind in my hair and a song in my heart,
