Hey Howdy Hey Luke and welcome to planDisney!
I am so excited for you to experience
Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort. This character dining experience has got to be one of my favorites and at a spectacular resort within walking distance of Magic Kingdom! This dining experience is also one that has the room and capacity for larger parties but due to its popularity, might also be a little tough to get so let's talk about some strategies for getting your reservation.
The window opens up for you to make
dining reservations 60 days from your date of arrival at 7:00 a.m. EST. So the earlier you are online the better and more ability you will have to make your reservations. The other thing to keep in mind is you have 60 days plus 10. What this means is if say your 60-day window opens up for Sunday, May 8th, for your arrival date, you can make dining reservations for that day and 10 days after which should cover the length of your stay. Where this comes into play is with these very popular dining locations. Try starting as far out as you can to make the reservations. So, for example, if your 60-day window opens up on a Sunday of your trip, try to make the reservation on Thursday for the greatest availability.
Although Chef Mickey's is great at accommodating larger parties, if you are having trouble getting reservations, you might consider splitting your party into two separate ones. This will give you greater availability to make your reservations. With this option as well, when you check-in for your reservation, talk to the greeting Cast Member and ask for both reservations to be put close together. The Cast Members might be able to get both parties close in proximity for you all to enjoy the experience together!
Now one final tip either coming or going to the Contemporary resort. If you have never been able to take a ride on the
Monorail, I would highly encourage it. Either EPCOT or Magic Kingdom are both easily accessible from the monorail, so if you get the opportunity to take a ride on the Highway in the Sky, it is something that you rarely get the opportunity to do outside of Walt Disney World and I know my three kids love it! Good luck with your continued planning and let us know if you have any other questions!
Happy planning,
Nick
