If 4 people go together to Disneyland and only 1 person will control the Genie+ feature on 1 cell phone so all persons go on attractions together at the same time, how do MagicBand+s interact if each person were to have one? Please outline the process. Thx

    Hi there, Mark!

Welcome to planDisney and we appreciate you stopping by with your question. I'm a tech geek and get excited whenever a new device gets released that improves convenience and quality of life when visiting the Parks. So I was thrilled when it was announced that MagicBand+ functionality would be coming to the Disneyland Resort and now I never visit the Parks without mine.

Do you all have your respective Bands for each member of your party? Disney has posted some step by step instructions on linking the MagicBand+ to your Disney account and then attaching it to your ticket. I find that it helps to think about each MagicBand+ being attached to only one ticket. So it doesn't matter if there is one Guest who has all the linked tickets on their phone. Once each MagicBand+ is linked to the appropriate ticket in the Disneyland Mobile App (this should be done prior to arrival in order to limit confusion and save time), any changes that are made to that ticket within the App, such as booking a Lightning Lane, will be uploaded to Disney's system. During your visit, the Bands do not interact with each other or with the primary Guest's cell phone (after it is linked). It is simply linked to your ticket and, once you scan it at a Lightning Lane entrance, Disney's system will verify that you have the appropriate booking and flash green to allow you through.

Have you seen all the various designs for MagicBand+? The Disney Store has many Bands from which to choose and you'll find even more at these locations on property. Many Guests now use these as accessories to their Park outfits and I've seen some pretty fancy ensembles! There are designs made to fit a wide variety of tastes and I hope you've all found one that you like.

Fun Fact: Speaking of technology, did you see that Disney Imagineer Lanny Smoot was recently inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame? He is only the second individual from the Walt Disney Company to have this honor, the first being Walt Disney himself, who was posthumously inducted for his multiplane camera. It was used on Disney films such as The Old Mill, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, and Bambi

I hope that this response helped to clear up any confusion for you, Mark. Please feel free to write to us again if you have any more questions. We'd love to hear from you again and you're always welcome at planDisney!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
