    DS13 has PDD(Autism), ADHD & OCD; read about the GAC, but not sure (& feeling a bit guilty) if I should get one for him. He does really well for the most part, but am concerned about a possible melt down at some point during our trip (Easter). Any

    Hi Joyce,

    I know from experience about feeling guilty about using a GAC and my son has lots of physical issues. I've always tried to treat him as much like any typical child to the extent his disabilities allow.  Sometimes it works out and sometimes I have to adapt the situation for him to be able to enjoy it as much as possible.  

    Give your son a chance to see how he responds. He may do fine and not require any assistance. But if you see that at any point during your trip that he is not responding well and you feel that a GAC will be helpful, then visit Guest Relations and request one.  If you have any documentation from your son's doctor regarding his disorders, bring it along just in case. Chances are they won't ask you for anything but better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

    You know your son better than anyone.  Remember his limitations and don't push him beyond those.  Easter will be crowded. Just remember to relax. If something arises, you'll be able to work around it. Disney is a great place for all kids!
